'Nei' translates to 'Inner' or 'Internal', 'Jia' translates to 'family' or 'school of thought', 'Kung Fu' (Gong Fu in Mandarin pinyin) generally translates to Martial Art, but specifically to the acquisition of skill from hard work and dedicated practice. So together the phrase refers to the Internal School of Chinese Martial Arts. The term is a general description encompassing a number of different Kung Fu (Gong Fu) systems. The underlying principles upon which the systems are based are similar, if not the same for all Internal Kung Fu (Neijia Gong Fu). The practice of Qigong exercises is an important aspect of Internal Kung Fu (Neijia Gong Fu). Various exercises directed at strengthening various aspects of the mind and body are incorporated into Internal Kung Fu (Neijia Gong Fu) training.
Classes in Internal Kung Fu (Neijia Gong Fu) are available to people over the age of 12, with no upper age limit. Classes do not contain free sparring or high kicking, therefore the risk of injury is greatly eliminated.

More About Internal Kung Fu (Neijia Gong Fu)
Based on the ancient theories of the 'Wu Xing' (the 5 categories), 'Yin/Yang', 'Heaven, Earth & Man' and other theories, the Internal Kung Fu (Neijia Gong Fu) of Yi Li Fa is an eclectic martial arts system that embodies the essential principles of Qigong and Chinese Internal Kung Fu methods. These methods are the combination of select elements from a variety of sources, those being; Xingyiquan, Yiquan, Baguazhang, Yongchunquan, Wujidao and Taijiquan.
Internal Kung Fu (Neijia Gong Fu) tend to be softer in application than the External Martial Arts systems. This is because Internal Kung Fu (Neijia Gong Fu) use contact sensitivity in 'bridging' with an opponent where the arms (and to a lesser degree, legs) are used as antennae to relay messages regarding the opponent's strength and intentions.
